Mr. Riggs was a Partner in the public accounting firm of Hickman-Riggs & Riggs, CPAs from its inception in 1992 until he retired in 2012. Prior to that time and since he retired, he practiced several years as a sole proprietor. In earlier years, Mr. Riggs was an Assistant Treasurer, Credit Manager, Accounts Receivable Manager, and held several other accounting positions in Corporate America. He has been a principal in several entrepreneurial ventures as well. In his accounting practice, he assists venturers with business plans, raising capital, and negotiations of all kinds. A large part of his tax work is centered on US individuals and entities with international operations or investments. In 2018, he became a founding member of Chapman Hickman-Riggs & Riggs PLLC in order to increase the range of services he can provide to his clients.
As an educator, Mr. Riggs has taught CPA Review classes for over 25 years with Lambers CPA Review, LHR Learning Institute and Becker CPA Review. He and his partner, Liliana Hickman-Riggs, CPA CMA CIA MS, have taught in-house corporate seminars for corporations such as Radio Shack, The Associates, AT&T and EDS. Their unique style of presenting with two instructors makes seminars lively and interesting.
William was part of the first group of seven instructors certified and authorized by the Texas State Board to teach Ethics (1996). In conjunction with the CPA review, William has taught ethics classes for many years.
Mr. Riggs holds three Masters degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas. He has Masters of Science degrees in Corporate Strategy and Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration in Organizational Theory. In addition, he has a broad background in International Business.
Mr. Riggs is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Texas. He is a member of the AICPA, the Texas Society of CPAs and the Dallas Chapter of TSCPA.
